Boomerang Ideas has been awarded a $500,000 Innosuisse study grant, marking a major milestone in our journey to reshape the future of market and opinion research!
Collaborating with World-Class Partners
This groundbreaking project brings together an exceptional team:
- Andrea Bublitz (University of Basel)
- Kristina Gligorić (Stanford University)
- Lukas Golder (gfs.bern)
- Dr. Alexandra Daniela Zaugg (SBB CFF FFS Research)
These renowned experts, alongside Boomerang Ideas, will explore how Silicon Samples — our innovative approach to simulated data — can reduce human sample costs while maintaining data quality and validity.
Over the coming months, we’ll embark on an ambitious research program:
- Fine-Tuning Large Language Models: We’ll benchmark open-source, closed, US, European, and Asian models against decades of survey data from Boomerang Ideas, gfs.bern, and SBB Research.
- Confidence-Driven Inference: Building on prior research, we’ll measure confidence in AI-generated responses to multi-item surveys.
- Hybrid Data Generation: Combining Silicon Samples with real human responses where AI confidence is low, ensuring reliability while reducing the need for extensive human samples.
The aim
Faster, more affordable, and highly representative insights that will make high-quality research accessible to more organizations than ever before.
This project positions Switzerland as a leader in AI-driven market research, leveraging robust science and trusted institutions. Together, we aim to set a global standard for high-quality, innovative research practices.
We’re also excited to announce that Dr. Linda Stougaard Nielsen, our Chief Science Officer, will be supporting this project. Linda’s expertise in AI-driven applications will be instrumental in driving this research forward, ensuring that we deliver on our mission to revolutionize market research.
This grant is just the beginning of an exciting journey. We’ll keep you updated on our progress and share insights along the way.
Thank you to our partners, supporters, and the wider community for believing in our vision. Let’s take market research to the next level — together!
