General information

Based on Article 13 of the Swiss Federal Constitution and the data protection regulations of the Swiss Confederation (Data Protection Act, DSG), every person has the right to protection of their privacy as well as protection against misuse of their personal data. The operators of these pages take the protection of your personal data very seriously. We treat your personal data with confidentiality and in accordance with the legal data protection regulations as well as this data protection declaration.

In cooperation with our hosting providers, we make every effort to protect the databases as well as possible against unauthorised access, loss, misuse or falsification.

We have committed ourselves to the professional ethical standards and guidelines of Swiss Insights (Swiss Data Insights Association: www.swiss-insights.ch).

We would like to point out that data transmission on the Internet (e.g. communication by email) can have security gaps. Complete protection of data against access by third parties is not possible.

This website can generally be visited without registration. Data such as pages accessed or the name of the file accessed, date and time are stored on the server for statistical purposes without this data being directly related to your person. Personal data, in particular name, address or email address, are collected on a voluntary basis as far as possible. We pass on personal data to third parties only as described in this privacy policy, in particular to service providers who process it on our behalf, if you have consented, or if the law requires it.

Processing of personal data

Personal data is any information that relates to a specific or identifiable person. A data subject is a person about whom personal data is processed. Processing includes any handling of personal data, regardless of the means and procedures used, in particular the storage, disclosure, acquisition, deletion, storage, modification, destruction and use of personal data.

We process personal data in accordance with Swiss data protection law. Furthermore, we process personal data in accordance with the following legal bases in connection with Art. 6 para. 1 DSGVO - insofar as and to the extent that the EU-DSGVO is applicable:

  • Consent (Art. 6 para. 1 p. 1 lit. a. DSGVO) - The data subject has given his/her consent to the processing of personal data relating to him/her for a specific purpose or purposes.
  • Performance of a contract and pre-contractual inquiries (Art. 6 para. 1 p. 1 lit. b. DSGVO) - Processing is necessary for the performance of a contract to which the data subject is party or for the performance of pre-contractual measures taken at the data subject's request.
  • Legal obligation (Art. 6 para. 1 p. 1 lit. c. DSGVO) - Processing is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation to which the controller is subject.
  • Protection of vital interests (Art. 6 para. 1 p. 1 lit. d. DSGVO) - Processing is necessary to protect the vital interests of the data subject or another natural person.
  • Legitimate interests (Art. 6 para. 1 p. 1 lit. f. DSGVO) - Processing is necessary to protect the legitimate interests of the controller or a third party, unless such interests are overridden by the interests or fundamental rights and freedoms of the data subject which require the protection of personal data.

Application procedure as a pre-contractual or contractual relationship (Art. 9(2)(b) GDPR)  Insofar as special categories of personal data within the meaning of Art. 9(1) GDPR (e.g. health data, such as severely disabled status or ethnic origin) are requested from applicants in the context of the application procedure, so that the controller or the data subject can fulfill the duties incumbent on him or her under employment law and the law on the protection of personal data. If the data is requested from job applicants so that the data controller or the data subject can exercise his or her rights under labour law and social security and social protection law and fulfill his or her obligations in this respect, it is processed in accordance with Article 9(2)(b) of the GDPR. DSGVO, in the case of the protection of vital interests of the applicants or other persons pursuant to Art. 9 para. 2 lit. c. DSGVO or for the purposes of preventive health care or occupational medicine, for the assessment of the employee's fitness for work, for medical diagnostics, care or treatment in the health or social sector or for the management of systems and services in the health or social sector pursuant to Art. 9 para. 2 lit. h. DSGVO.

In the case of a communication of special categories of data based on voluntary consent, their processing is based on Art. 9 para. 2 lit. a. DSGVO.

We process personal data for the duration required for the respective purpose or purposes. In the case of longer-term retention obligations due to legal and other obligations to which we are subject, we restrict processing accordingly.

Relevant legal basis

In accordance with Art. 13 DSGVO, we inform you of the legal basis for our data processing. If the legal basis is not stated in the data protection declaration, the following applies: The legal basis for obtaining consent is Art. 6(1)(a) and Art. 7 DSGVO, the legal basis for processing to fulfil our services and carry out contractual measures and respond to enquiries is Art. 6(1)(b) DSGVO, the legal basis for processing to fulfil our legal obligations is Art. 6(1)(c) DSGVO, and the legal basis for processing to protect our legitimate interests is Art. 6(1)(f) DSGVO. In the event that vital interests of the data subject or another natural person make processing of personal data necessary, Art. 6 (1) (d) DSGVO serves as the legal basis.

Security measures

We take appropriate technical and organizational measures in accordance with the legal requirements, taking into account the state of the art, the implementation, costs and the nature, scope, circumstances and purposes of the processing, as well as the different probabilities of occurrence and the extent of the threat to the rights and freedoms of natural persons, in order to ensure a level of protection appropriate to the risk.

The measures include, in particular, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity and availability of data by controlling physical and electronic access to the data as well as access to, entry into, disclosure of, assurance of availability of and segregation of the data. We also have procedures in place to ensure the exercise of data subjects' rights, the deletion of data and responses to data compromise. Furthermore, we already take the protection of personal data into account in the development or selection of hardware, software and procedures in accordance with the principle of data protection, through technology design and through data protection-friendly default settings.

Our employees are contractually obligated to comply with the following laws and industry standards:
- Swiss Insights’ professional ethical standards and guidelines (Swiss Market and Social Research Association www.swiss-insights.ch)

Transmission of personal data

In the course of our processing of personal data, it may happen that the data is transferred to other bodies, companies, legally independent organisational units or persons or that it is disclosed to them. The recipients of this data may include, for example, service providers commissioned with IT tasks or providers of services and content that are integrated into a website. In such cases, we comply with the legal requirements and, in particular, conclude appropriate contracts or agreements that serve to protect your data with the recipients of your data.

Data processing in third countries

If we process data in a third country (i.e., outside the European Union (EU), the European Economic Area (EEA)) or the processing takes place in the context of the use of third-party services or the disclosure or transfer of data to other persons, bodies or companies, this will only be done in accordance with the legal requirements.

Subject to express consent or contractually or legally required transfer, we only process data in third countries with a recognized level of data protection, contractual obligation through so-called standard protection clauses of the EU Commission, in the presence of certifications or binding internal data protection regulations (Art. 44 to 49 DSGVO, information page of the EU Commission: https://ec.europa.eu/info/law/law-topic/data-protection/international-dimension-data-protection_de).

Our service providers process personal data in Switzerland, in the EU or EEA, in the United Kingdom and in the USA; some of them use sub-processors in other countries. For transfers from Switzerland, we rely on the list of countries with adequate data protection of the Swiss Federal Council (Annex 1 to the Data Protection Ordinance), which includes the EU/EEA states and the United Kingdom. For the USA, we rely on the Swiss-U.S. and the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework where the recipient is certified under it, and otherwise on standard contractual clauses recognised by the FDPIC and the EU Commission.

Privacy policy for cookies

This website uses cookies. Cookies are text files that contain data from visited websites or domains and are stored by a browser on the user's computer. The primary purpose of a cookie is to store information about a user during or after their visit within an online service. Stored information may include, for example, language settings on a website, login status, a shopping cart or where a video was watched. The term cookie also includes other technologies that perform the same functions as cookies (e.g. where user details are stored using pseudonymous online identifiers, also known as "user IDs").

The following cookie types and functions are distinguished:

  • Temporary cookies (also: session cookies): Temporary cookies are deleted at the latest after a user has left an online offer and closed his browser.
  • Permanent cookies: Permanent cookies remain stored even after the browser is closed. For example, the login status can be saved or preferred content can be displayed directly when the user visits a website again. Likewise, the interests of users used for range measurement or marketing purposes can be stored in such a cookie.
  • First-party cookies: First-party cookies are set by ourselves.
  • Third-party cookies (also: third-party cookies): Third-party cookies are mainly used by advertisers (so-called third parties) to process user information.
  • Necessary (also: essential or absolutely necessary) cookies: Cookies may be absolutely necessary for the operation of a website (e.g. to store logins or other user input or for security reasons).
  • Statistical, marketing and personalization cookies: Furthermore, cookies are usually also used in the context of range measurement and when a user's interests or behaviour (e.g. viewing certain content, using functions, etc.) on individual websites are stored in a user profile. Such profiles are used, for example, to show users content that matches their potential interests. This process is also referred to as "tracking", i.e. tracking the potential interests of users. Insofar as we use cookies or "tracking" technologies, we will inform you separately in our data protection declaration or in the context of obtaining consent.
  • Notes on legal basis: The legal basis on which we process your personal data using cookies depends on whether we ask you for consent. If this is the case, and you consent to the use of cookies, the legal basis for processing your data is the consent given. Otherwise, the data processed with the help of cookies is processed on the basis of our legitimate interests (e.g. in the business operation of our online offer and its improvement) or, if the use of cookies is necessary to fulfill our contractual obligations.
  • Storage period: If we do not provide you with explicit information on the storage period of permanent cookies (e.g. in the context of a so-called cookie opt-in), please assume that the storage period can be up to two years.
  • General information on revocation and objection (opt-out): Depending on whether the processing is based on consent or legal permission, you have the option at any time to revoke any consent you have given or to object to the processing of your data by cookie technologies (collectively referred to as "opt-out"). You can initially declare your objection by means of your browser settings, e.g. by deactivating the use of cookies (whereby this may also restrict the functionality of our online offer). An objection to the use of cookies for online marketing purposes can also be declared by means of a variety of services, especially in the case of tracking, via the https://optout.aboutads.info and https://www.youronlinechoices.com/ websites. In addition, you can obtain further instructions on how to object in the context of the information on the service providers and cookies used.
  • Processing of cookie data on the basis of consent: We use a cookie consent management procedure, in the context of which the consent of users to the use of cookies, or the processing and providers named in the cookie consent management procedure, can be obtained and managed and revoked by users. The declaration of consent is stored in order not to have to repeat the request and to be able to prove the consent in accordance with the legal obligation. The storage can take place on the server side and/or in a cookie (so-called opt-in cookie or with the help of comparable technologies) in order to be able to assign the consent to a user or their device. Subject to individual information on the providers of cookie management services, the following information applies: The duration of the storage of consent can be up to two years. Here, a pseudonymous user identifier is created and stored with the time of consent, information on the scope of consent (e.g. which categories of cookies and/or service providers) as well as the browser, system and end device used.
  • Types of data processed: Usage data (e.g. websites visited, interest in content, access times), meta/communication data (e.g. device information, IP addresses).
  • Data subjects: Users (e.g. website visitors, users of online services).
  • Legal basis: Consent (Art. 6 para. 1 p. 1 lit. a. DSGVO), Legitimate Interests (Art. 6 para. 1 p. 1 lit. f. DSGVO).

Privacy policy for SSL/TLS encryption

This website uses SSL/TLS encryption for security reasons and to protect the transmission of confidential content, such as inquiries that you send to us as the site operator. You can recognize an encrypted connection by the fact that the address line of the browser changes from "http://" to "https://" and by the lock symbol in your browser line.
If SSL or TLS encryption is activated, the data you transmit to us cannot be read by third parties.

Data transmission security (without SSL)

Please note that data transmitted via an open network such as the Internet or an e-mail service without SSL encryption can be viewed by anyone. You can recognise an unencrypted connection by the fact that the address line of the browser shows "http://" and no lock symbol is displayed in your browser line. Information transmitted over the Internet and content received online may be transmitted over third-party networks. We cannot guarantee the confidentiality of communications or materials transmitted over such open or third-party networks.

If you disclose personal information over an open or third-party network, you should be aware that your information may be lost or potentially accessed by third parties and consequently the information may be collected and used without your consent. While in many cases the individual data packets are transmitted in encrypted form, the names of the sender and recipient are not. Even if the sender and the recipient reside in the same country, the data transfer via such networks often also takes place without controls via third countries, i.e. also via countries that do not offer the same level of data protection as your country of domicile. We assume no responsibility for the security of your data during transmission via the Internet and disclaim any liability for direct or indirect losses. We ask you to use other means of communication should you consider this necessary or reasonable for security reasons.

Despite extensive technical and organisational security precautions, it is possible that data may be lost or intercepted and/or manipulated by unauthorised persons. As far as possible, we take appropriate technical and organisational security measures to prevent this from happening within our system. However, your computer is outside the security perimeter under our control. It is your responsibility as a user to inform yourself about the necessary security precautions and to take appropriate measures in this regard. As the website operator, we are in no way liable for any damage that you may suffer as a result of data loss or manipulation.

Data which you enter in online forms may be passed on to commissioned third parties for the purpose of order processing and may be viewed and possibly processed by them.

Privacy policy for server log files

The provider of this website automatically collects and stores information in so-called server log files, which your browser automatically transmits to us.
These are:

  • Browser type and browser version
  • Operating system used
  • Referrer URL
  • Host name of the accessing computer
  • Time of the server request

This data cannot be assigned to specific persons. This data is not merged with other data sources. We reserve the right to check this data retrospectively if we become aware of specific indications of illegal use.

Third party services

This website may use Google Maps for embedding maps, Google Invisible reCAPTCHA for protection against bots and spam and YouTube for embedding videos.

These services of the American Google LLC use cookies, among other things, and as a result, data is transferred to Google in the USA, although we assume that no personal tracking takes place in this context solely through the use of our website.

Google LLC is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and its Swiss-U.S. extension, on which the transfer of data to the USA is based.

Further information can be found in Google's privacy policy.

Data protection declaration for contact form

If you send us inquiries via the contact form, the information you provide in the inquiry form, including the contact details you enter there, will be stored by us for the purpose of processing the inquiry and in the event of follow-up questions. Requests sent via the research request (Feldanfrage) or feedback forms are stored at GitHub, as described under «Research requests and feedback: storage at GitHub». We are also told about each such request by email, sent on our behalf by Resend, Inc., USA; data may be transferred to the USA in the process. Apart from that, we do not pass on this data without your consent.

Privacy policy for newsletter data

If you would like to receive our newsletter, we need your email address. You are only added to the list once you have confirmed your address via the link in our confirmation email (double opt-in). To be able to prove your consent, we also store the time and IP address of your sign-up, the time of your confirmation, the language and where you signed up. We use this data only to send the newsletter and do not pass it on to third parties for their own purposes. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
You can withdraw your consent at any time, via the unsubscribe link in every newsletter or by email to us. After you unsubscribe, we keep your email address on a blocking list for the sole purpose of not writing to you again.

Review comments and reviewer accounts

Some pages can be opened with a review link that lets invited reviewers comment on the page. If you leave a comment, we store the comment, the quoted page text, the page, the name you enter and the time, as an entry in a private project on GitHub (see «Research requests and feedback: storage at GitHub»). If you create a reviewer account or sign in, we store your email address, your name if you enter it and the time of your sign-ins; the account is kept on our behalf by Supabase Inc. on servers in the EU. Sign-in codes and links and, unless you switch them off, notices of replies to your comments are sent to you by email on our behalf by Resend, Inc., USA. Signing in sets two necessary cookies that keep you signed in. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in collecting and handling feedback on our pages (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) and, for your account, the provision of the service you asked for (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). You can ask us at any time to delete your account and your comments.

BoomSuite: client accounts

If you create an account in our web app BoomSuite (my.boomerangideas.com), we process your name, email address, company, your login data, the studies, questionnaires and results you create, your credit balance and purchases, your messages to our support and information about how you use the app (for example log-ins and the functions used). We use this data to provide BoomSuite, to bill our services, to give support and to keep the app secure. BoomSuite runs in data centres in the EU. Card payments for credit packs are processed by Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe, Limited, Dublin, Ireland); we receive only confirmation of the payment, not your card details. We keep our accounts and invoices with Bexio AG, Switzerland. App emails are sent on our behalf by email service providers. The legal basis is the contract with you or your company (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR), our legal obligations, for example to keep accounting records (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR), and our legitimate interest in a secure and working service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Measurement tools in BoomSuite run only with your consent, as described in the cookie section. We keep account data for as long as your account exists and delete it afterwards, unless statutory retention periods apply (for accounting records in Switzerland, ten years).

Surveys and study participants (Live Social Samples™)

We recruit participants for our surveys through ads on social networks such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat and LinkedIn. We target these ads by age, gender and region with the platforms' own tools; the platforms process the data of their users under their own privacy policies and as their own controllers, and we only receive aggregated statistics on our ads. If our survey pages use measurement tools of these platforms, we only do so with your consent.

When you take part in a survey, we process:

  • your answers, including free-text answers and chats;
  • information you give about yourself, depending on the survey, for example age group, gender, region, language, education, living situation, eligibility to vote or political orientation;
  • technical and quality information, for example the time of your answers, the platform and ad through which you came, a random identifier we assign to you, which of our surveys you have taken part in, and the information we need to detect duplicate or automated participation;
  • if you give them, contact details such as your phone number or email address, for your reward or for a follow-up study.

We use this data to carry out the study, to check the quality of the answers, to pay out rewards, to prevent abuse and multiple participation, and to improve and train our models and create benchmarks (see «Use of study data to improve and train our models and for benchmarks»). Our clients receive the results in aggregated form or as data without your name and contact details. If we run a study on behalf of a client, we process the study data on the client's behalf under a data processing agreement, except for the use described in the section on model training and benchmarks (section 3, para. 7a of our data processing agreement).

Some surveys ask about sensitive topics, for example political opinions. Answering such questions is voluntary; by answering, you expressly consent to our processing these answers for the purposes described here (Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR; Art. 6(7) FADP). Otherwise, the legal basis is your participation under our survey terms (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and our legitimate interest in reliable research results and in preventing abuse (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Our quality checks (for example attention checks, answering speed and duplicate detection) work partly automatically. If your answers are excluded because of them and you therefore receive no reward, you can ask us to have the decision reviewed by a person.

We delete your contact details as soon as they are no longer needed for your reward, for quality checks and for preventing multiple participation. We keep your answers and the information about yourself without your contact details, linked only to the random identifier.

Rewards for participants

As a thank-you for taking part, you may receive a reward, for example a voucher. To send it, we process your completion code and the contact details you give us. In Switzerland, the reward is usually sent through our account on WhatsApp Business or on another messenger through which you contact us; the messenger provider (for WhatsApp: WhatsApp Ireland Limited, Dublin, Ireland, part of Meta) processes your phone number and the messages under its own privacy policy, and data may be transferred to the USA. In other countries, rewards are delivered by Yesty Rewards Ltd, 27 Old Gloucester Street, London WC1N 3AX, United Kingdom, which processes the data needed to deliver the reward on our behalf; when you redeem the reward with one of Yesty's partners (for example PayPal or a gift-card partner), that partner's privacy policy applies. The legal basis is our survey terms (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

Silicon Samples and AI service providers

Our Silicon Samples (simulated respondents) run on a language model fine-tuned on our own survey data. To train and run our models and for AI functions in BoomSuite, for example a chat about study results, we use providers of AI models and computing capacity. They process the data on our behalf and according to our instructions, in data centres in the EU or in the USA; for transfers to the USA, the safeguards described under «Data processing in third countries» apply. For other tasks, for example checking texts on our public websites, we also use external AI models through intermediary services; to these we send only public information, never personal data of participants or data of our clients.

Use of study data to improve and train our models and for benchmarks

We use study data, meaning the answers given in our surveys including free-text answers and chats, together with age group, broad region and the other characteristics of a survey, to develop, evaluate, improve and train our own models, in particular our Silicon Samples, and to create benchmarks. Before data is used for this, we remove your contact details (phone number, email address) and your name; the data is then linked only to the random identifier we assigned (pseudonymised), and we use it in anonymised or aggregated form wherever the purpose allows. Benchmarks we publish contain only aggregated results that identify neither you nor our clients. We do not use this data to contact you or to make decisions about you. Training can take place at the AI service providers described above, on our behalf.
The legal basis is our legitimate interest in improving our services and the quality of our research (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) and, for answers revealing sensitive data such as political opinions, your consent given in the survey (Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR). You can object at any time by email to hello@boomerangideas.com; as far as we can still assign data to you, we then exclude it from future training and benchmarks. Clients can opt out of the use of their study data for training and benchmarks under our terms and conditions (3.6). Without an objection, study data stays stored while your account is active. After an objection, we delete it 30 days after the end of the study, unless you book hosting.

Email and collaboration tools

For email, calendars and documents we use Microsoft 365 of Microsoft Ireland Operations Limited, Dublin, Ireland. For internal communication we use Slack (Slack Technologies, LLC, USA) and for notes on projects and business contacts Notion (Notion Labs, Inc., USA). Your messages to us and contact details may be processed in these tools; data may be transferred to the USA. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in efficient communication and organisation (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Rights of data subjects

You can exercise the rights below free of charge by writing to hello@boomerangideas.com. We have not appointed a separate data protection officer; where this section refers to the data protection officer, this means the responsible body named at the beginning of this privacy policy. • The existence of a right of appeal to a supervisory authority
  • If the personal data are not collected from the data subject: Any available information on the origin of the data.

Furthermore, the data subject has the right to be informed whether personal data have been transferred to a third country or to an international organisation. If this is the case, the data subject also has the right to obtain information on the appropriate safeguards in connection with the transfer.
If you would like to make use of this right to information, you can contact our data protection officer at any time.

Right of rectification

Every person affected by the processing of personal data has the right to demand the immediate rectification of any inaccurate personal data concerning him or her. • The personal data have been collected or otherwise processed for such purposes for which they are no longer necessary.
  • The data subject withdraws his or her consent on which the processing was based and there is no other legal basis for the processing
  • The data subject objects to the processing on grounds relating to his or her particular situation and there are no overriding legitimate grounds for the processing, or the data subject objects to the processing in the case of direct marketing and related profiling
  • The personal data have been processed unlawfully

The data protection officer of this website will arrange for the deletion request to be complied with immediately.

Right to restrict processing

Any person concerned by the processing of personal data has the right to obtain from the controller of this website the restriction of processing if one of the following conditions is met:

  • The accuracy of the personal data is contested by the data subject, for a period enabling the controller to verify the accuracy of the personal data
  • The processing is unlawful, the data subject objects to the erasure of the personal data and requests instead the restriction of the use of the personal data
  • The controller no longer needs the personal data for the purposes of the processing, but the data subject needs it to assert, exercise or defend legal claims
  • The data subject has objected to the processing on grounds relating to his or her particular situation, and it is not yet clear whether the legitimate grounds of the controller override those of the data subject

If one of the aforementioned conditions is met, you can request the restriction of personal data stored by the operator of this website at any time by contacting our data protection officer. The data protection officer of this website will arrange the restriction of the processing.

Right to data portability

Every person affected by the processing of personal data has the right to receive the personal data concerning him or her in a structured, common and machine-readable format. He or she also has the right to have this data transferred to another controller if the legal requirements are met.
Furthermore, the data subject has the right to obtain that the personal data be transferred directly from one controller to another controller, insofar as this is technically feasible and provided that the rights and freedoms of other persons are not affected thereby.
To assert the right to data portability, you may at any time contact the data protection officer appointed by the operator of this website.

Right of objection

Any person affected by the processing of personal data has the right to object at any time, on grounds relating to his or her particular situation, to the processing of personal data concerning him or her.
The operator of this website shall no longer process the personal data in the event of the objection, unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing which override the interests, rights and freedoms of the data subject, or if the processing serves the assertion, exercise or defence of legal claims.
To exercise the right to object, you may directly contact the Data Protection Officer of this website.

Right to withdraw consent under data protection law

Every person affected by the processing of personal data has the right to revoke a given consent to the processing of personal data at any time.
If you wish to exercise your right to withdraw consent, you can contact our data protection officer at any time.

Right to lodge a complaint

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. In Switzerland, this is the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC, www.edoeb.admin.ch). If the GDPR applies, you can also contact the supervisory authority of your place of residence or work in the EU or EEA.

Chargeable services

For the provision of chargeable services, we request additional data, such as payment details, in order to be able to execute your order. We store this data in our systems until the legal retention periods have expired.

Use of Google Maps

This website uses the Google Maps service. This enables us to show you interactive maps directly on the website and allows you to use the map function conveniently. By visiting the website, Google receives the information that you have called up the corresponding sub-page of our website. This takes place regardless of whether Google provides a user account via which you are logged in, or whether no user account exists. If you are logged in to Google, your data will be directly assigned to your account. If you do not wish your data to be associated with your Google profile, you must log out before activating the button. Google stores your data as usage profiles and uses them for the purposes of advertising, market research and/or the needs-based design of its website. Such an evaluation is carried out in particular (even for users who are not logged in) to provide needs-based advertising and to inform other users of the social network about your activities on our website. You have the right to object to the creation of these user profiles, and you must contact Google to exercise this right. Further information on the purpose and scope of data collection and processing by Google, as well as further information on your rights in this regard and settings options for protecting your privacy, can be found at: www.google.de/intl/de/policies/privacy.

Google Ads

This website uses Google conversion tracking. If you have accessed our website via an ad placed by Google, Google Ads will set a cookie on your computer. The conversion tracking cookie is set when a user clicks on an ad placed by Google. These cookies lose their validity after 30 days and are not used for personal identification. If the user visits certain pages of our website and the cookie has not yet expired, we and Google can recognise that the user clicked on the ad and was redirected to this page. Each Google Ads customer receives a different cookie. Cookies can therefore not be tracked across Ads to customers' websites. The information obtained using the conversion cookie is used to create conversion statistics for Ads customers who have opted in to conversion tracking. Clients learn the total number of users who clicked on their ad and were redirected to a page tagged with a conversion tracking tag. However, they do not receive any information that can be used to personally identify users.
If you do not wish to participate in the tracking, you can reject the setting of a cookie required for this - for example, by means of a browser setting that generally deactivates the automatic setting of cookies or by setting your browser in such a way that cookies from the domain "googleleadservices.com" are blocked.
Please note that you may not delete the opt-out cookies as long as you do not want any measurement data to be recorded. If you have deleted all your cookies in the browser, you must set the respective opt-out cookie again.

Use of Google reCAPTCHA

We use "Google reCAPTCHA" (hereinafter "reCAPTCHA") on our websites. The provider is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland, hereinafter "Google". The purpose of reCAPTCHA is to check whether data entry on our websites (e.g. in a contact form) is made by a human being or by an automated programme. For this purpose, reCAPTCHA analyses the behaviour of the website visitor on the basis of various characteristics. This analysis begins automatically as soon as the website visitor enters the website. For the analysis, reCAPTCHA evaluates various information (e.g. IP address, time spent by the website visitor on the website or mouse movements made by the user). The data collected during the analysis is forwarded to Google. The reCAPTCHA analyses run entirely in the background. Website visitors are not informed that an analysis is taking place.
The data processing is based on Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f DSGVO. The website operator has a legitimate interest in protecting its web offers from abusive automated spying and from SPAM. For more information on Google reCAPTCHA and Google's privacy policy, please see the following links: https://www.google.com/intl/de/policies/privacy/ and https://policies.google.com/terms?hl=de.

Bot protection with Cloudflare Turnstile

To protect our forms and sign-ins against spam and automated abuse, we use Turnstile, a service of Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. Turnstile checks in your browser whether a person or a program is filling in the form; for this, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address and information about your browser and device. Turnstile sets no cookies. Data may be transferred to the USA. Our forms also check a submission for typical spam patterns; a submission caught this way is kept separately, so that we can still answer it if a real person was caught, and deleted once it is no longer needed for this. To stop floods of requests, we count requests per IP address for a short time. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in protecting our website and our forms (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). More information: Cloudflare privacy policy.

Privacy policy for Google Analytics

If you agree to the category «Improving the site», we use Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland («Google»). Google Analytics shows us how our pages are used, for example which pages are viewed, where visitors come from and where they leave. For this, Google Analytics sets cookies and processes usage data such as the pages viewed, time of the visit, device, browser, approximate location and a pseudonymous identifier. The data runs through our own server container (see «Google Tag Manager and server-side tagging»). The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time under «Cookie settings» in the footer. Without your consent, we do not load Google Analytics and send no data to Google. Data may be transferred to Google LLC in the USA; Google LLC is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and its Swiss-U.S. extension. More information: Google privacy policy.

Google Tag Manager and server-side tagging

We use Google Tag Manager, a service of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland, to manage the measurement and advertising services on this website. Google Tag Manager is loaded on every visit, sets no cookies itself and starts the services in the categories «Improving the site» and «Ads & company visits» only after you have agreed in the cookie banner; before that, the website sends no data to these services, not even cookieless signals. This applies to all visitors, including visitors from Switzerland. Improving the site: Google Analytics 4, Microsoft Clarity. Ads & company visits: Meta Pixel and Meta Conversions API, Dealfront. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time under «Cookie settings» in the footer.
Measurement data from your browser is first sent to our own server container (Google Tag Manager, server version) on a subdomain of boomerangideas.com. There we can filter the data before passing it on to Google Analytics and, only with your consent to «Ads & company visits», to Meta. The server container only forwards what your consent allows. It is operated on our behalf by Stape Europe OÜ, Sepapaja tn 6, 15551 Tallinn, Estonia, as our processor, and hosted in the EU; any transfer outside the EEA is covered by standard contractual clauses. Until the switch-over is complete, part of the data still runs through a server container that we operate at Google Cloud (Google Ireland Limited). More information: Stape privacy notice, Stape data processing agreement.

Privacy policy for Hubspot

Our website uses Hubspot, a marketing automation software from HubSpot, 2nd Floor 30 North Wall Quay, Dublin 1, Ireland. HubSpot is a software company based in the USA with a European office in Ireland. Hubspot helps us to analyse the use of our portal. Hubspot uses cookies for this purpose.
Certain usage data is linked to your person (e.g. after entry in a registration form) and stored in our CRM. This enables us to send you information and offers tailored to your interests.
In the process, your personal data may also be forwarded to Hubspot servers in the United States (USA). The appropriate level of protection is established by the fact that HubSpot, Inc. is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and its Swiss-U.S. extension.
We use Hubspot to provide you with information and offers tailored to your needs. Accordingly, we have a legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6(1)(f) of the GDPR in this processing. The legal basis for the processing of your personal data by us in connection with the use of Hubspot is Art. 6 (1) f) of the General Data Protection Regulation.
In connection with the use of Hubspot, we store your personal data for as long as is necessary to provide you with information and offers tailored to your needs.
The provision of personal data collected via Hubspot is not required by law or contract or necessary for the conclusion of a contract. If you do not provide us with this data, we will not be able to provide you with information and offers tailored to your needs.
You can find more information on data use by Hubspot in Hubspot's privacy policy at: https://legal.hubspot.com/de/privacy-policy.
You can object to the use of your data at any time, e.g. by sending an email to our email address in this privacy policy.

Privacy policy for Meta Pixel and Conversions API (Facebook, Instagram)

If you agree to the category «Ads & company visits», we use the Meta Pixel and the Conversions API of Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, Merrion Road, Dublin 4, D04 X2K5, Ireland («Meta»), to measure the success of our ads on Facebook and Instagram and to show you more relevant ads there. The Meta Pixel sets cookies and tells Meta which pages you view and which actions you take (for example a sign-up or a contact request), together with device and browser information and your IP address. Through the Conversions API we can also send the same events to Meta from our server container. For the data we send to Meta, Meta takes different roles depending on the purpose, as its Meta Business Tools Terms set out: when Meta matches the data and prepares reports for us, it processes it on our behalf as our processor; when the data is used to target and deliver ads, we are jointly responsible with Meta (Controller Addendum); for any further processing for its own purposes, Meta alone is responsible (Meta privacy policy). The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time under «Cookie settings» in the footer. Data may be transferred to Meta Platforms, Inc. in the USA.

Hashed email address when you sign up in BoomSuite

  • What: When you create an account in BoomSuite, we send Meta a «sign-up» event with the time of the event, your IP address and browser information (as described above) and your email address as a SHA-256 hash value. Before hashing, the address is trimmed and converted to lowercase, as Meta requires. A hash value is a one-way scrambled code, not your address in plain text. It is not anonymous, though: Meta can compare it with the hash values of the email addresses of its own users and so recognise you. We send no other account data (such as your name, company, studies or payments) and never your email address in plain text.
  • When: Only if you have agreed to the category «Ads & company visits» in the cookie banner, and only at sign-up. Without this consent we send nothing to Meta, not even the hash value.
  • Recipients: Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, Dublin, Ireland, in the roles described above. The data reaches Meta through our own server container, which Stape Europe OÜ, Tallinn, operates for us as our processor, hosted in the EU (see «Google Tag Manager and server-side tagging»).
  • Purpose: To measure which of our ads lead to sign-ups and to improve how our ads are shown on Facebook and Instagram. We use the data for nothing else.
  • Legal basis: Your consent, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. Under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP), consent is the justification (Art. 31(1) FADP); it is valid because it is given freely, after adequate information and for this specific processing (Art. 6(6) FADP). You can use BoomSuite without giving it.
  • Retention: According to Meta's Business Tools Terms, Meta deletes contact information such as the hashed email address after matching it and may keep event data for at most two years.
  • Withdrawing consent: At any time under «Cookie settings» in the footer. From then on we send no further events. Events already sent are not affected; questions about them: hello@boomerangideas.com.

Privacy policy for Twitter

This website uses functions of Twitter, Inc., 1355 Market St, Suite 900, San Francisco, CA 94103, USA. The terms and conditions and data protection information of the respective payment service providers apply to the payment transactions and can be accessed within the respective website or transaction applications. We also refer to these for the purpose of further information and assertion of revocation, information and other data subject rights.

Newsletter – dispatch

Since 22 September 2026, our newsletter list is kept in our own database, stored on our behalf by Supabase Inc. on servers in the EU (Ireland). The confirmation email and the newsletter are sent on our behalf by Resend, Inc., USA, from the address newsletter@news.boomerangideas.com; your email address and the content of the email may be transferred to the USA in the process. For transfers to the USA we rely on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework where the recipient is certified under it, and otherwise on the EU standard contractual clauses.
Addresses that signed up before 22 September 2026 are still held by the newsletter service Mailchimp of The Rocket Science Group, LLC, Atlanta, USA, until the newsletter is sent entirely from our own list; Mailchimp will then no longer be used.

Privacy policy for YouTube

Functions of the "YouTube" service are integrated on this website. "YouTube" is owned by Google Ireland Limited, a company incorporated and operated under the laws of Ireland with its registered office at Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland, which operates the services in the European Economic Area and Switzerland.
Your legal agreement with "YouTube" consists of the terms and conditions set out at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/static?gl=de&template=terms&hl=de. These terms and conditions constitute a legally binding agreement between you and YouTube regarding your use of the Services. Google's privacy policy explains how YouTube treats and protects your personal data when you use the service.

Privacy policy for Dealfront (Leadfeeder)

If you agree to the category «Ads & company visits», this website uses Dealfront (formerly Leadfeeder), a service of Dealfront Group GmbH, Durlacher Allee 73, 76131 Karlsruhe, Germany. Dealfront identifies companies that visit our website on the basis of the IP address and shows us which pages were visited. It does not tell us who you are as a person. The tracker sets its own cookie to link visits from the same browser. We use the result (company, pages visited) to approach companies directly. Dealfront processes the data on our behalf; its servers are mainly in the EU, and standard contractual clauses apply to service providers outside the EEA. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time under «Cookie settings» in the footer. More information: Dealfront privacy centre.

Privacy policy for Microsoft Clarity

If you agree to the category «Improving the site», this website uses Microsoft Clarity to understand how our pages are used. Clarity records individual visits under a pseudonym (mouse movements, clicks, scrolling) and creates heatmaps from them; what you type into form fields is masked. Recordings are generally deleted after 30 days. The Microsoft Privacy Statement names Microsoft Corporation, One Microsoft Way, Redmond, Washington 98052, USA, and, for the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Microsoft Ireland Operations Limited, One Microsoft Place, South County Business Park, Leopardstown, Dublin 18, Ireland, as the responsible companies. Microsoft stores the data in its Azure cloud, including in the USA, and for Clarity also processes it for its own purposes as a separate controller. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time under «Cookie settings» in the footer. More information: Microsoft Privacy Statement, Clarity FAQ.

Feedback on our website

When you use the feedback button or answer the short «would you recommend us» question on our website, we store your answer (your rating or choice and any text you write), the page on which you gave it (without URL parameters), whether you used a phone or a computer, the language, the time you took, and your email address only if you enter it, so that we can reply. We do not store your IP address and set no cookies for this. Your browser keeps the date of the last recommendation question on your device so that we do not ask again within 90 days, and, only for the current browser tab, whether your last feedback was positive or negative, so the feedback button can show the right icon; this second value is never sent to us and disappears when you close the tab. The data is stored on our behalf by Supabase Inc. on servers in the EU. We use it to improve our pages, surveys and service, on the basis of our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), and delete it after 24 months. You can ask us at any time to see or delete your feedback. When you start giving feedback, the widget also takes one screenshot of the part of the page you see, with every input field blanked out, and sends it only together with your feedback; it is stored privately at Supabase, only our administrators can open it, and it is kept no longer than your feedback. We are told about new feedback by email, sent on our behalf by Resend, Inc., USA; data may be transferred to the USA in the process.

Privacy policy for Appzi (surveys)

This website no longer uses Appzi. On the pages of some of our surveys, we use Appzi, a service of Appzi, Inc., USA, for short feedback questions. What you enter in a feedback form there, together with technical information about your visit, is processed by Appzi on our behalf and on our instructions. Data may be transferred to the USA in the process. More information: Appzi privacy policy.

Research requests and feedback: storage at GitHub

If you send us a research request (Feldanfrage) or feedback via a form on this website, what you enter, including your name, company and email address where you provide them, is stored as an entry in a private project on GitHub, a service of GitHub, Inc., 88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA, which we use to process requests. Only Boomerang Ideas AG has access. Data is transferred to the USA in the process. The legal basis is the handling of your request (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and our legitimate interest in answering it (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We delete the entry when it is no longer needed to process your request, unless retention is required by law. More information: GitHub Privacy Statement.

Shared documents (share links)

We sometimes share documents, for example a draft, a mock-up, an offer or an investor's certificate, through an unlisted link on boomerangideas.com. When such a link is opened, we record the time, the approximate country (derived from the IP address at the moment of the request; the IP address itself is not stored), the referring page and the browser's user agent, so that we know whether a document has been opened. On an expired link you can leave your name or email address so that we can reopen it for you. If you have a document sent to you by email, we log the sending with your email address shortened and as a hash value. This data is stored on our behalf by Netlify (see «Hosting at Netlify»); emails are sent on our behalf by Resend, Inc., USA. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in sharing documents with our contacts (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Business contacts (CRM)

If you contact us, send us a research request, sign up for our newsletter or work with us as a client or partner, we keep your name, company, email address and the dates of your contacts in our contact list. It is stored on our behalf by Supabase Inc. on servers in the EU. Our notes on companies, projects and offers are kept in Notion, a service of Notion Labs, Inc., USA; data may be transferred to the USA in the process. We use this data to manage and follow up our business relationships. Being on this list does not mean that you receive our newsletter; that needs your separate consent. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in managing our business relationships (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) and, where you are or are about to become our client, the contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). We delete or anonymise the data when the business relationship has ended and no statutory retention obligation applies.

Hosting at Netlify

This website is hosted by Netlify, Inc., 101 2nd Street, San Francisco, CA 94105, USA. When you visit it, Netlify processes the server log data described above and the forms you submit, and may process them in the USA. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a secure and reliable website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). More information: Netlify Privacy Statement.

Note on data transfer to the USA

Among other things, tools from companies based in the USA are integrated on our website. If these tools are active, your personal data may be passed on to the US servers of the respective companies. We would like to point out that the USA is not a safe third country in the sense of EU data protection law. US companies are obliged to hand over personal data to security authorities without you as a data subject being able to take legal action against this. It can therefore not be ruled out that US authorities (e.g. intelligence services) process, evaluate and permanently store your data located on US servers for monitoring purposes. We have no influence on these processing activities.
